Joseph Cheng, Pastor of Chinese C&MA Church
Wife – Sharon Cheng
Children – Ron (b. March 16, 1989) and Rose (b. July 3, 1991)
Pastor Cheng and Sharon both grew up in the beautiful country of Taiwan. Both Joseph and Sharon attended and graduated from Central Taiwan Theological Seminary (CTTC) in Taiwan. After Joseph completed his masters degree in religion from CTTC he came to the United States to pursue further study at Western Conservative Baptist Seminary. He completed another two degrees from 1986-1990, an M.A. in Exegetical Theology and a Master of Theology in Biblical Literature. Joseph and Sharon were married in 1987 when Joseph was studying at Western Seminary.
After Joseph finished his study in 1990, he went back to Taiwan and taught theology and Bible at CTTC from which he had graduated. Five and a half years later he was invited to pastor the Morgantown Chinese C&MA Church.
The Morgantown Chinese C&MA Church was formed in January 1995. At present there are more than 60 members. In 2004 the Chinese Church purchased their own church building on Madigan Ave. Pastor Joseph has pastoral oversight of several ministries, including small group, outreach programs, and adult Sunday School which meets regularly under his leadership for training, encouragement, prayer, and discussion of various issues.
Pastor Cheng focuses his ministry on teaching God’s word, equipping disciples, and reaching out to Chinese people around West Virginia who need the Savior. The greatest delight in ministry for Joseph is seeing God’s word transform the lives of believers and unbelievers. The Morgantown Chinese C&MA Church has been a wonderful place to know the Lord and to grow in grace. |
