Pastor Scott A. GormanScott A. Gorman, Pastor of Worship
Wife – Valerie Gorman
Children – Emmaline (b. November 21, 1995), Madeleine (b. December 12, 1997), Elizabeth (b. July 7, 1999), and Abigail (b. August 20, 2001)

Scott was born in Rockford, IL and moved to Eden Prairie, MN (a suburb of Minneapolis) at the age of 5, where he lived until moving to Morgantown. Valerie spent most of her childhood in Delaware, OH (outside of Columbus), but moved to Eden Prairie, MN during her senior year of high school. Valerie and Scott met at Normandale Community College and were married in August of 1991—shortly after Scott transferred to Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Scott graduated from Augsburg College in 1994 with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater.

After graduation, Scott turned his attention to pursuing a career as a professional singer in opera and musical theater on a full-time basis. He sang with the Minnesota Opera, the Dale Warland Singers, the Minnesota Chorale, and the Bach Society of MN, but also taught voice in several area high schools, at Crown College (a C&MA college in MN), and led worship on an interim basis. In 2001, shortly before leaving for Europe to begin a career as a principal singer, God radically changed the direction of Scott’s life—shifting his focus from a career as an opera singer to a career in worship leadership. As a result, Scott took on his first vocational post as a worship leader in 2003.

Scott has been leading worship since 1998 in a wide variety of denominations—including Evangelical Free, Lutheran (AALC), and Baptist (BGC) churches. In the fall of 2005, Scott entered the distance education program at the Regent University School of Divinity to pursue a Master of Divinity in Worship & Renewal—a degree that he completed in May of 2010. He is motivated to see worship leadership in the church raised to a pastoral level and to see the church at large come to a fully-informed and daily-lived understanding and practice of worship. Scott is excited to be on staff at C&MA Church of Morgantown because of the church’s commitment to a missional standard of ministry—living out the calling of Jesus Christ in everyday life…a commitment that is expressed not only in formal ministry settings, but also in the seemingly mundane details of day to day existence. But, he is also eager to see the worship ministry of the C&MA Church expand to include choir and the creative arts as well—something that will not only engage worshipers, but also elicit an active, intentional, authentic response.
