Our Annual Report Meeting will be on Sunday, February 12, in the sanctuary following the worship service. Everyone is invited to this meeting to hear the yearly updates on CMA’s current ministries. There will also be a discussion time on the church’s bylaws. The Annual Report and Bylaws are available below and paper copies of both are available in the church foyers. We encourage you to stay after service on February 12 to hear about all that has been happening at CMA.

Worship Director

Position Objective: To provide leadership to the worship ministries of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Morgantown, West Virginia (cmachurch.net). Located in a flourishing university community, including university students, professionals, families, and seniors from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. The congregation (Sunday morning worship service attendance averages 300-400). CMA Church has a history of being a “sending church”, as many members of the congregation have moved into full-time ministry including missions, pulpit ministries, or are working for other Christian organizations.

Position Description: The Worship Director (full-time position) must have the artistic gifts, training, and passion for leading, designing, and enhancing the worship culture and experience at CMA Church.  The Worship Director administrates and designs weekly worship services and special programs (Christmas, Easter, etc.) and coordinates with the Lead Pastor who sets the theme and overall direction of the church’s ministries.  This Worship Director should also serve as a spiritual “shepherd”: training and nurturing those who participate in the worship ministry.

Salary, Vacation, and Benefits:

  • The annual starting salary for this full-time position is projected to be from $40,000 – $60,000, commensurate with education and experience.
  • Newly hired CMA Church staff receive 2 weeks’ vacation plus up to 8 personal leave days not involving weekend ministries.
  • Benefits: Each CMA Church employee has a health insurance plan that is best suited to their unique circumstances, and the church offers assistance in identifying those alternatives. In addition, the church has an existing health reimbursement agreement that offers each employee $2400/year to be applied to health insurance premiums and/or health expenses.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Music and/or equivalent experience.
  • The ability to effectively lead the congregation and supporting musicians in “blended worship”.
  • Vocal ability, as appropriate for a Worship Leader, is required, as well as the ability to rehearse and lead both small and larger choral ensembles
  • The ability to effectively work with and provide music for an instrumental ensemble is expected.
  • A clear understanding, knowledge, and passion for God’s Word and an emphasis on evangelism and discipleship.
  • Biblical knowledge appropriate for someone in church leadership combined with a commitment to moral purity.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Worship Leader in Sunday morning services either in person, or by training and overseeing others who may occasionally lead worship.
  • Plan the corporate worship services in consultation with the Lead Pastor and A/V director. This includes overseeing song selection, media preparation and presentation, and sound and lighting enhancements.
  • Set and present annual and long-term goals for the music and worship ministry.
  • Prepare and lead the Worship Team in weekly rehearsals and services.  This includes the scheduling of instrumentalists, vocalists, and other participants, and providing music to all musicians in advance.
  • Rehearse the larger “Worship Choir” and full orchestra to participate on Sunday mornings and special seasonal services (Christmas, Easter, etc.). The choir and orchestra joins the Worship Team in leading congregational singing and prepares a “special” (anthem) 4 -5 times a year.
  • Arrange and transcribe service music according to the abilities of the musicians involved.
  • Invite and mentor others, including high school and college students, to participate in various worship and A/V activities.
  • Manage the worship and A/V department budgets.
  • Support the mission and vision of the CMA Church of Morgantown and the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination. This may involve attending district/national meetings and retreats.

 

Community Information:

Morgantown, West Virginia is a vibrant, growing University community located about an hour’s drive south of Pittsburgh, PA.  It is home to West Virginia University, the largest institution of higher education (≈24,000 students) in the state. The church is located directly across the street from the WVU College of Creative Arts (Music, etc.), which provides opportunities for collaboration and outreach ministry opportunities with students and faculty.  Morgantown is a family-centered town, providing a broad spectrum of arts, sports, and outdoor recreational activities.

CMA Church of Morgantown is a 100+ year old congregation that reflects the cultural diversity within the University and Morgantown communities. The church has birthed a Chinese Church and a Korean Church and regularly schedules joint services with both congregations. The church hosts a college and career ministry to students and young professionals.

The church worship ministry maintains a relationship with the WVU School of Music, encouraging music majors to participate in the choir, praise band, and orchestra.  This relationship provides opportunities for evangelism, discipleship, and music/worship leadership development with college students.
